Ankle desarthrodesis: report of three cases

The good results of primary ankle arthroplasty and long-term dissatisfaction with arthrodesis have made arthrodesis, that is, the conversion an into arthroplasty, option for patients a painful fusion. This study presents three submitted to desarthrodesis in Brazil between 2019 2021. Two men one woman, aged 48 52 years prosthetic interval two 30 years, presented satisfactory after arthroplasty. Pain reduction increased functional capacity were observed, representing improvement visual analog scale (VAS) 5 6 points, range motion (ROM) gain 20Åã 45Åã progress American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS) score 17 54 points postoperative follow-up. Although it is procedure long learning curve, should be considered therapeutic alternative arthrodesis. Level Evidence IV; Case Series; Therapeutic Studies - investigating treatment.
